Because propane is virtually odorless and colorless in its natural state, a commercial odorant is added so propane can be detected if it leaks from its container.

Propane Autogas Clean Air Vehicle Rally

The National Propane Gas Association kicked off its year-long Centennial Celebration at the 2012 NPGA Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo in Atlanta, GA in April. The featured event was the Propane Clean Air Rally and Autogas Parade which was held in Centennial Olympic Park. The Rally featured a parade of autogas vehicles of all types—on and off-road-- and culminated in a walk down “New Technology Lane,” to a press conference that was held in the park’s amphitheatre. Afterward, partners offered “Ride and Drives” and product demos.
The Propane Centennial Celebration (PCC) task force is worked with Clean Cities Atlanta, ROUSH CleanTech, GM, Alliance Autogas, Clean Fuel USA, and others to collect vehicles and partners for the Clean Air Rally. The event showcased a wide range of autogas vehicles from buses, trucks, and cars, to forklifts, commercial lawn mowers and more. Key supporters brought fleet manager customers to the rally who offered a first-hand perspective on the positive impact propane has made on the efficiency and productivity of their fleets.
