Propane blends with isopropane to fuel a refrigerator that works on gas absorption. The mixture has a greatly reduced ozone depletion effect and successfully replaces chlorofluorocarbon and hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants. This ability makes it a great replacement as an alternative fuel in refrigerators and air conditioners.

Michigan Propane Gas Association

The Michigan Propane Gas Association (MPGA) goals are to promote the proper handling and use of propane, to work for favorable environment for propane distribution and marketing, and to increase its application by demonstrating propane's value as a clean energy source.  The Michigan Propane Gas Association represents the state’s 200 plus family-owned and corporate businesses that provide propane delivery to over 400,000 residential and commercial customers from 235 plant locations throughout Michigan.  The MPGA is proud to say that Michigan consistently ranks among the top three largest propane consuming states and Michigan is THE largest user of propane for residential use. 

Here in Michigan, the propane industry contributes over $890 million per year to the Michigan economy.  Michigan’s propane industry employs over 2,000 people.  The retail sector alone includes nearly 1,900 jobs.  Approximately 12 percent of Michigan households use propane – and that percentage is growing!  Propane retailers service every county in Michigan.
